I’ve come to realize that January 1st is packed full of baggage, whether you start the year off with a stealthy hangover or wondering if this is really the year the world will end. On the other hand, it also starts a brand new year full of fresh starts, goals, and challenges.  These things are otherwise known as Resolutions.

I had a New Year’s Resolution once.  I don’t remember what it was and I think it’s safe to say I didn’t follow it after the first week.  I realized that the dreadful resolution always involves something you don’t really want to do, but you think you should.  Kicking a habit, losing weight, and helping others are just a few that I’ve heard over and over… and over.

This year, I’m switching things up and personally I think it’s a stellar idea.  My New Year’s Resolution doesn’t involve giving something up, but bringing something in.  “Be a little selfish” is what I’m telling myself this year, and I’m inviting you to join in on the fun. I have fashioned a list of different things I just HAVE to have this year and my resolution is to sporadically obtain all of them.  Nothing too crazy, I mean I won’t go buy a Lamborghini, but I might treat myself to that Marc Jacobs bag I’ve been eyeing for two months, or that pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes that make me want to melt.  It’s good to give, right?  So why not give to yourself?  Now, don’t go buy everything in sight and throw yourself into a hole of debt, but choose a few amazing things, big or small, and get them for yourself throughout the year.  If you have to save for it, do it.  Think about what makes you happy, and make it happen.

Happy New Year!
